Match Report by Steve C

EIGHT LEMONS TRIUMPH 5-3 OVER NINE ORANGES

The banner headline is a partial apology for the last report which failed to mention that the lemons were a man short. Sorry.

Anyway another lovely day at the Poli and following a warm-up by Kevo and the obligatory group selfie the match kicked off on a smaller pitch using the hockey nets.

Once again the lemons had to play with a rush goalie but that didn’t stop them gaining a two goal lead.

This later became 3 ahead following a super strike from Big Bad John.

The use of the smaller goals brought out some good saves from the goalies from both teams. I’m not quite sure if they were all saves or the shots just hit them!

Nevertheless, for the lemons, Geoff claimed two top drawer saves and Boris had four.

New recruit Steve for the oranges also had some top saves.

Newcomer Steve, a Brentford fan!

As the lemons lead was proving difficult to peg back, the oranges began a shooting bombardment in the last quarter of the game. However, a human shield erected by the lemons kept out the desperate orange attack.

However, there might be a few bruises on Tuesday morning though!

Eventually in the closing minutes, for the third time in as many weeks, Kevo ripped one into the top corner.

The lemons held on for a deserved victory.

The defeated oranges left the pitch bemoaning the consistent inconsistency of the man with the whistle.

This was quickly forgotten as we headed to the bar for emergency hydration measures. No paella today but some tasty cheese and olives was well received by all.

Some old friends of the WF crew dropped by to say hello to the Commander.

Maybe they’ll be back on Thursday. Come along and find out.
