Time until the next game at Benalmadena Polideportivo

‘A’ Game Match Report by The Commander

Due to numbers two six a side matches had to be arranged with each match being played over half a full size pitch.

With smaller goals and larger goal areas restricting goals to be scored only from within the goal areas made for an exciting 14 goal thriller which ended up with honours even in the Group ‘A’ match, this despite the lemons playing with one man short for the full 60 minutes.

The aforementioned as a result of Simon’s friend allegedly an ex-professional with Sunderland deciding he had seen enough in the warm up by Kevo and the footballing skills of Keef to frighten him off!

The match was played in excellent spirit, with no running, some tremendous passing and movement, no doubt as a result of the extra space on a larger size pitch and undoubtedly helped by Keef’s pea getting stuck in his whistle!

For the lemons Danish goal poacher supreme Max scored four goals with new boy Gregg having a solid debut with some excellent ball distribution, whilst for the oranges Glyn scored a hat-trick this despite struggling from the after affects of a ‘hard days night’!

Highlight as always was the banter in the bar afterwards with drinks both soft and alcoholic flowing freely.

Mike 65 years young on Friday provided a selection of pies, sausage rolls and quiche and sauces allegedly baked by Kevo which went down well, it’s a mystery how the latter stays so slim!

Then to cap it all manageress Christina surprised us all with a welcome back pan of seafood paella.

‘B’ Game Match Report by Steve C

Back to the Polideportivo on a sunny Monday.

A late kick off at 11 affords the weekend party animals a wee bit longer to recuperate. Two six a side games today to accommodate all the eager participants.

The group photo took a bit of time to execute, we might have to invest in a wide angle lens camera for future snaps.

KICK OFF with Captain Bob as referee. Both sides were relatively well matched throughout but Bob II in goal for the lemons made some top saves to keep out the oranges.

Final score was 7-3 to the lemons with goals from Eddie, Frank, Martyn and Graham. Goal of the game was a toss up between Graham’s volley and Eddie’s tight angled finish.

Captain Terry literally put his body parts on the line to score for the oranges.

Mike, like a typical Scottish striker, scored on his 10th attempt. All players agreed that the surface was good but it was a warm morning so it was off to the bar but shock and horror as the bedraggled hordes had to stump up for beer!

A pie fest was provided by Mike to celebrate his upcoming 65th. The “popularity” of the Commander with the bar staff payed dividends as a wonderful paella was provided to feed the sportsmen. Hopefully we’ll get another one on Thursday. See you then.
