Match report by the Commander

On Monday at the PoliDeportivo due to numbers it was necessary to split the matches into 2 groups playing Dutch rules football.

Basically playing 6 a side three touch football, no encroachment of either goal area which have small goals, no keeper and the ball not allowed to go higher than the height of the crossbar.

In the Group ‘A’ match Mike 🐊 put Yellows in front with a ‘snappy’ shot, followed by new boy Kev aka ‘Bing’ with a rasping shot making it 2-0.

Simon then pulled one back for the Orange’s making it 2-1 with a simple shot which was closely followed by the equaliser from our dodgy Dutch referee friend Paul Deehan.

He had obviously been groomed by Keef as he then awarded a penalty to his side for the latter allegedly encroaching the goal area.

Justice was seen to be done when Mick 🍒 missed the penalty when all he had to do was shoot into the empty net from the spot on the halfway line.

He later claimed the miss was deliberate as he also agreed with Keef that he didn’t believe it should have been a penalty! MartYn then put the Oranges in front when much to his delight he ‘sold’ Keef a dummy to score a good goal.

Then much to his and everyone’s surprise MartYn then scored his second putting the Oranges up 4-2.

A late goal by Welsh Steve made it 4-3 but despite a late onslaught the Oranges held on to win 4-3 helped by some dodgy referring decisions by the Flying Dutchman with the inability to count to more than 3 when his side had the ball and was obviously in dire need of an abacus!

There will be no football at the PoliDeportivo this Thursday with at being a public holiday for San Juan, therefore the Benalmadena Monday/Thursday regulars are meeting up at the Lilac Tree around 1.30pm in the Pueblo for a festive drink.

Next match at the PoliDeportivo is Monday 28th June, 10.30 for 11am start.

Match report by Tony Waller

The group B match started off with both sides passing well & keeping possession.

After Gaz went walk about in the yellow area, Pete the Pilgrim decided to see how hard & how far he could hit the ball from the halfway line towards the open goal.

He failed miserably ballooning the ball skywards towards the bullring.

The yellows gradually started to get on top and never looked back as Dave the Owl rattled in 5 goals, Pete G got in on the act with a hat trick, Gaz redeemed himself with 2 well taken goals & Dave/Steve the Bee 🐝 got his reward when played in by Dave the owl.

The oranges had their moments too with 2 goals from the Shadow aka Steve Conway, one shot was a rocket that went in off the bar.

Pete Downing then tried his boots on the opposite feet with great effect as he popped a long overdue goal in followed by a second off Kevin’s outstretched leg.

Big Jon also found the net for the oranges after a few marauding runs to add a more respectable look to the final scoreline of 11-5 to the yellows.

Steve McHugh had the final chance to get on the scoresheet but contrived to fire wide with no yellow player near him and an open net.

All that remained was to unscrew Big Bob from the centre circle as he had been turned that many times he was complaining of dizziness😂😂.

All players then retired to the bar for a couple of glasses of the amber nectar. Well done everyone in what ended up pretty warm conditions.👍⚽️
