YELLOW’S 9 v ORANGE’S 8
On another fine day at the Retamar yesterday the ‘Yellow’s’ narrowly edged a closely contested game with ‘Keef’ for once selecting two evenly matched teams.
After leading 6 goals to 4 the Yellow’s’ suddenly found themselves losing 8-6, but came back strongly to win by the odd goal.
For the Yellow’s it was good to see Argentinian Jose back playing again after a recent hernia operation, a tricky and popular player in the Ossie Ardiles mould.
Debutant ‘Kevo’ Barbbs settled in well and seemed to enjoy himself with a solid performance scoring two goals in the process, as did Olaf, ‘Commander’ and Dave Lowe, the latter scoring a screamer with undoubtedly the best goal of the match.
For the Orange’s the ever improving Glyn Owen ‘weighed’ in with 4 goals, this after three successive hat-tricks, with Jose (2), ‘Fish’ and Allan ‘R’ scoring one each. Dave ‘L’ also tried his best to claim an hat-trick without any joy in the bar afterwards as a result of putting one into the back of his own net.
After his recent goal scoring prowess the ‘Commander’ was closely marked by Bob who followed him everywhere nudging and shirt pulling, as did Brian ‘H’, the latter resorting on one occasion to pulling off the Commander’s face mask.
In the second half there was a hotly disputed touchline incident between the Commander and Glyn, albeit the former ‘sportingly’ conceded in the spirit of the game!

There is no doubt under ‘Keef’s tutelage, with Glyn in such fine form, the ever improving ‘Loweman’, along with new recruit ‘Kevo’ and others Benalmadena are determined to overturn the home defeat by Robin’s Calahonda team in the return fixture.
Next two weeks are at the Retamar, 11am start on Mondays and Thursdays 10.30am.
