Walking football played today in perfect UK conditions.

The game kicked off promptly at 10 o’clock with a 7 aside match. The yellows possibly having the better team on paper.

The football from both sides was good to watch, the passing of the orange team was of a high standard but equally the yellows defended well, it took the oranges at least 25 minutes before they breached the yellow defence when an unstoppable shot from Anthony put oranges 1 up. Further goals from Anthony and Big Alan seemed to put them in a unassailable 3-0 lead then a young Steve Loasby decided that he was going to play out field with little Alvin going in goal, this would normally signal an avalanche of goals for orange.

Young Loasby immediately made a difference. John C having not played since March unleashed a 40 yard pile driver that the hapless Wrighty didn’t even smell.

The stage was set little Alvin made a couple of good saves before young Loasby got a second goal for the yellows.

With time running out, young Loasby picked up the ball from little Alvin he proceeded from his own half and bearing in mind he only had 3 touches went round Big Alan, little Anthony, little Waller and little Johan, before leaving sniper in his tracks. This left him with a 1 on 1 with Wrighty and 2 touches left.

He gave Wrighty the eyes, fell over his dodgy leg, miss hit the ball, which hit a cone and sent Wrighty the wrong way before the ball trickled in the net. 3-3!

That proved to be the end of the scoring. What a game. What a day.
