Time until the Next game at Benalmadena Polideportivo
Match report by Geoff
Just the one 10 aside match on a warm sunny Monday morning at the Polideportivo.
The game was played in an excellent spirit and was well refereed by Fireman Sam, aka John, in his normal authoritative style ensuring that the rules of walking football were adhered to.
In this regard his job was made easier, as once again, there was no Bambi to disrupt matters with his argumentative and combative manner!
An early goal by Steve Mac gave the Blacks the lead with a fine low shot past the Cab in the Reds goal.
Incredibly before the first water break the Reds missed two penalties taken by Alvin and Pete G as a result of encroachment by Black defenders into the penalty area.
1-0 to Blacks at the break.
After the break Steve Mac showed how a penalty should be taken after Alvin decided to also go walkabout in the Reds penalty area.
2-0 to Blacks
The Cab now playing in midfield had a senior moment and obviously thinking he was still playing in goal encroached into the Reds penalty area.
Kevo made no mistake with penalty slotting the ball past Olaf in goal.
3-0 to Blacks at end of session.
On the 40 minute mark, Olaf pulled a goal back for the Reds making no mistake with his shot past Klaus, the Blacks keeper.
3-1 to Blacks.
Unbelievably, there was yet another and 5th penalty, when Fred then stepped into the Reds penalty area, only for Ken to miss from the spot, shooting straight at Dazza who made an easy save.
By now a distraught El Tel had seen enough and put out some plastic cones to mark the outer penalty area, notwithstanding they were clearly marked with yellow lines in the astro turf.
3-1 to Blacks at end of third session.
Welsh Steve thought he had pulled another goal back for the Reds only to have it disallowed for running.
End of session still 3-1 to Blacks.
Due to the bar being late opening, it was agreed to play an additional 20 minutes, however by now some of the old stagers were feeling the effects of the midday sun, thus necessitating taking on more water rather than beer as would be normal at this time.
In the extra session Welsh Steve scored for the Reds hitting his shot past Pilgrim Pete in the Blacks goal.
3-2 for the Blacks ensuring an exciting finale to the game.
Just before Fireman Sam blew his whistle to end the game, Olaf scored a cracking goal following a terrific pass to him across the penalty area by Pete G to level the scores.
FT 3-3
On the bar balcony after the match, your reporter, in the absence of VAR, was taken to task by Kevo and ever the pessimist Steve Mac when he incorrectly had the score at 4-2 to the Blacks
Reluctantly, yours truly conceded this error and the excuse that he had been distracted by injured players Rick and Boris coming along to pay him monies for a future event didn’t wash.
The day was rounded off by Olaf once again bringing along a delicious German gastronomic dish of sausages in dressing gowns.
