Time until the next game at Benalmadena Polideportivo

Slow Match report by Geoff

BLACKS ….6 versus REDS….3

A good turnout on Monday at the Polideportivo enabled Breck to arrange two six aside games.

This match report is for the older farts or those less able recovering from injury.

It is particularly pleasing to report that the game was played in an excellent spirit and more  importantly adhering to the rules of walking football.

At Keef’s insistence, rush goalies were allowed, this enabled Bambi to take advantage of the former going on walkabout to slot the ball into an empty net from distance. 1-0 to Blacks.

Towards the end of a pretty even session, Ian increased the Blacks lead with a fine low shot from the right wing past the helpless  Crocodile in the Reds goal. 2-0 to Blacks at the break.

Highlight of the second session was old stager Ken scoring for the Reds after a poor miss kick from Klaus the Blacks keeper.

2-1 to Blacks at the break.

Third session began with another cracking goal from Red Ken following a delightful through pass from Dave M making a tentative comeback after 3 months following injury. All square at 2 apiece.

Then the Reds took the lead, when the oldest swinger in town scored his hat-trick following a clever pass from Keef, 3-2 to Reds.

Then Boris got his name on the scoresheet, but not in the way he wanted, when a rasper of a shot from Ian deflected off his shoulder giving Fred in goal no chance to save.

3-3 setting up for a thrilling finale.

The last session began with Klaus putting the Blacks in front again following a poor back pass by a Reds defender, once again giving poor old Fred in goal no chance to save.

4-3 to Blacks.

Almost immediately Bambi put the Blacks further in front after a defence splitting pass from Kevo.

5-3 to Blacks.

The Reds responded strongly with some lovely 3 touch football between Mike and Keef only for the latter to be thwarted by a terrific save by ‘Ricky Parfitt’ in the Blacks goal.

The latter also went on to make several more good saves in the closing stages to keep the Reds at bay.

Ian put the result beyond doubt

when he lobbed the ball past a despairing Dave M in the Reds goal.

Final score 6-3 to Blacks.

It would be remiss not to mention the solid game of Fred  in midfield for the Reds who was constantly cajoled and supported by Keef.

Kevo for the Blacks as ever brought out the best of others around him to give the Blacks the extra winning edge.

Then it was back to the main event of the day on the balcony bar, with Olaf supplying a copious amount of delicious food by way of pigs in dressing gowns, followed by a generous donation by Alan to the whip to celebrate his upcoming birthday. Then not to be outdone Klaus towards the end of the day bought everyone a tasty tortilla.
