Played at Calahonda this Friday morning.
Before the game Brian York, their coordinator, spoke to all the members regarding the misuse of of the WhatsApp group having recently introduced a banter group called ‘chit chat’ so members could post non football related items.
Due to a small number of the members continually posting inappropriate material he decided to suspend members for a football session but this didn’t work.
They have now decided that they they will fine members €20 personally, I’m not sure about this, but I do understand his frustration.
Can I ask all our members before you post anything make sure you use the appropriate site. On this website there is a facility to post comments but it’s hardly used and I’m not sure why.
Should we suspend members or fine them? let me know what you think in the comments section below. Please note that all comments are reactively moderated.
Thank You!
Can’t we just tell people off, using reason and rational argument? 🤪
It would be easier to remove “offenders” from the Walking Football WhatsApp Group after an appropriate warning ..Yellow Card for first offence then Red Card for a month or a quarter.
Trying to collect €20 isn’t that easy when some members are posting whilst overseas. It does help to have a few options to choose from so hopefully other ideas will come forward before someone punches Mr York.
Can a moderator (do we have any?) prescreen comments then delete/allow?
Hi Gary, Good question. The answer with whatsapp is no, there is no pre screen, the only choice is for either an admin or the user to delete.
The admins on whatsapp primary concern is with arranging and running the football side and not moderating comments that should only be posted on the appropriate site.
As regards the website, my domain, all comments posted are reactively moderated and, in the main, allowed to go through. If there is anything that should be considered for deletion, i forward that comment onto the appropriate admin to have the final say.
Hope this helps.
KR Brian
