Match Report by Geoff

REDS …..3 versus BLACKS…..2

Another excellent turnout at the Polideportivo necessitating in Breck selecting two matches of seven a side using the small nets on yet another fine autumnal morning.

There is no doubt in the first two sessions of the old farts match that the Reds with the extra player were the more organised team, especially in defence with Glyn, Boris and Audrey a strong backline.

At the halfway stage the Reds were leading 3-0 with two goals from old stager Ken and a fine strike from distance by Glyn.

Indeed during this period with the Blacks defence like a leaky sieve Ken could have had a hatful of goals narrowly shooting wide on several occasions and also having two goals disallowed for running.

At this point octogenarian Walter who was having one of his better games changed bibs and moved to the Black team giving them the extra man. There was no further score at the end of the this session, albeit with Blacks beginning to look more a dangerous threat in attack.

This was borne out in the last session with Mike 🐊 from Dundee taking advantage of a poor clearance by H playing rush goalie to pull a goal back for the Blacks.

Bambi having taken over in goal for the Blacks made several fine saves during this period although he knew nothing of a blaster by Glyn  which hit his shoulder to go over the bar for a corner.

This was  quickly followed at the other end by Matt for the Blacks scoring following a lovely one two passing move between him and Mike 🐊 making for an exciting finale with the Reds eventually holding out for a 3-2 win.

Star player of the match was undoubtedly Ken.

It was unfortunate that the game was spoilt  on several occasions by not being played in the proper spirit

Unfortunately there will not be a fast farts report.
