On a cloudy yet warm morning at the Retamar the start was slightly delayed by the ladies finishing an entertaining exercise routine on the football pitch much to the delight of some ‘perving’ onlookers!

Joining us for the first time was Eddie, Mick and Steve who all seemed to greatly enjoy themselves, indeed for the last twenty minutes or so. Scotsman Eddie belied his 74 years with some lovely twinkle toe touches.

Yet again ‘poacher’ supreme Glyn Owen for the Yellow’s gave another 5 goal farewell performance before his return to the U.K. this week.

The ‘Lawman’ had another fine game, knocking in another superb goal from distance for the winners, with two from Dave the 🦉 and one from Stevie ‘C’.

Hotshot ‘Kevo’ for the Orange’s had an off day missing an abundance of chances, albeit eventually ‘fluking’ one goal. He was later heard muttering something about needing to buy some new boots!

For the losers Bob as usual was solid in defence and nipped in for a rare goal, also putting the Commander 👮‍♀️in for one of his two goals with a superb defence splitting pass.

Fortunately for the Orange’s ‘Keef’ sat out most of the match to allow all of the newcomers to play, otherwise there loss may well have been worse. There is no doubt that he was still recovering from his exertions the previous day and not just playing at Cerrado!

What has been really special of late is to see the vast improvement in performance and enjoyment made by the ‘elder statesmen’ and those for one reason or another less able since returning after ‘lockdown’. For the latter ‘Keef’ who takes the brunt of the anonymous reporters comments deserves much credit.

No football at the Retamar this Thursday due to it being Holy Week, thereby also giving ‘Keef’ a chance to hopefully recover!

Next match at the Retamar is Monday 5th April, 10.30 for 11am start.
