THE rules and regulations for the new walking football league on the Costa del Sol have been finalised.
The Managers of Smiles and Walking Dead Walking Football Clubs along with Walking Football Spain`s Tournament Director and the League Director met at Scandal`s Restaurant on Friday (November 1) to thrash out the details.
Sponsorship has been agreed with Blue Sky Marbella, a successful real estate company in Elviria, with the League known as Blue Sky Marbella Walking Football League. Other sponsorships are in the pipeline. Both the new League and two of the individual clubs hope to finalise agreements with potential sponors. However both the clubs and the League still seek sponsorship to assist their efforts in raising funds for good causes. .
On the playing side, Walking Football Spain have a busy schedule in the second part of the month with the opening fixtures in the Blue Sky Marbella League followed four days later on Wednesday 20th with a trip to Gibraltar their annual visit.
The return fixture is the following week, Wednesday 27th at Benahavis. Both days will see over 58 and over 69 teams playing each other.
These are always entertaining matches as Gibraltar are experienced having played in International tournaments against National teams.
The opening Blue Sky Walking Football League fixtures are as follows :–
November 16: Noon ASTON VIÑUELLA (VELEZ MALAGA) V SMILES (CALAHONDA) 60 12.45 WFS MARBELLA “B” V SMILES (CALAHONDA) 60
13.35 WFS MARBELLA “B” V ASTON VIÑUELA 14.20 WFS MARBELLA “A” V SMILES (CALAHONDA) 50
This last match of the first league fixtures should be the match of the day as the two old rivals and potential league winners come together again.
The draw for the League Cup First Round was made at the League Managers meeting held in Calahonda on Friday, November 1, with each manager picking a number from the bowl. The draw threw up some very interesting ties.
